Silhouettes

Silhouette, a portrait technique performed by reproducing only the contours of the face in profile, is linked to the discovery of Johann Caspar Lavater's The Physiognomic Fragments, which used this practice to read faces.

Initially, in the 1980s, this technique was done with the traditional wooden frame, the candle as the only light, and freehand drawing. Then since the 2000s, the faster and more precise photoshop-corrected photography has been used.
